Phoceis and Pricer Develop ‘Indoor’ Geolocation Solution Using ESL Infrastructure
Phoceis, a digital marketing and consulting agency specialising in connected commerce, and Pricer, a company specialising in electronic shelf label (ESL) solutions, are proud to announce a major technological advance in the ‘indoor’ geolocation of products in the sales area.
Phoceis and Pricer have partnered to launch research in order to use the communication infrastructure of ESLs as the basis for an internal navigation solution.
Full-scale tests have demonstrated that products equipped a Pricer ESL were located very precisely. The novelty derives from the fact that the solution requires no additional work skills or installation of redundant infrastructure: the location of products in the store and customer guidance is done in the exact same way as a geolocation system equipped with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) beacons.
This is an example of a highly positive and productive cooperation between a manufacturer and a mass-market distributor, which will greatly improve the in-store customer experience.
This initiative has been undertaken as part of the call for ‘New Shopping Experience’ proposals, issued by the Pôle de Compétitivité Industries du Commerce (PICOM, or Center for Competitiveness in Business Industries), which aims to present innovative projects on usability within the context of developing connected commerce.
This device will be presented at the Innovation Connected Show (ICS), held on 16 -17 September, 2014, in Toulouse.
