With a huge range of products ranging from fresh produce to dry goods, office equipment and more, Metro needed a simple, comprehensive, cost-effective solution for total price flexibility.
Metro started implementation in Germany. The project was led by their central IT team, to ensure that every installation would go smoothly and that there would be a consistent installation across all stores.
The solution allows central, direct control over all pricing, the precise start and end of promotional periods, and indirect control over other operational processes. It offers new possibilities such as micro-increases, smarter promotions and end-of-line (EOL) reductions to clear old stock - as well as improved stock management.
Significant reductions in price errors mean Metro has reduced complaints, saved the time and cost of investigating and correcting errors and improved customer relations. In Portugal, Metro reduced gaps on shelves from 1,000 to 300, simply by checking every label to see if stock was in the back room - releasing another 700 products for immediate sale.
Metro is continuing its evaluation of Pricer solutions to improve further its operations and eliminate price printing and paper labels.
